TikTok ‘pauses’ privacy policy switch in Europe after regulatory scrutiny
Tech Crunch: TikTok has agreed to pause a contentious privacy policy in Europe. The policy would have stopped asking users for permission to receive targeted advertisements. But the company has agreed to hold off on changes to allow the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to continue engagement between the parties. TikTok received a “formal warning” from Italy’s data protection authority and stated that the changes would be a breach of EU privacy laws.

While business leaders are trimming their budgets and looking to squeeze a dollar, cybersecurity programs may be seen as non-critical. However, companies need to realize that security threats are a major business issue and a hack can cause serious financial and reputational repercussions. Cybersecurity threats don’t stop during a recession and every employee plays an important role in keeping their company (and customers) safe and secure.
One-Third of Users Without Security Awareness Training Click on Phishing URLs
Dark Reading: A quick but important read about phishing attacks. According to security awareness training provider KnowBe4’s, 32.4% of users fall for a phish, if they aren’t provided any official training. It’s even worse in certain industries such as healthcare, consulting and pharmaceuticals, where half of all untrained employees fall for phishing scams. The good news is that after monthly training is provided, phishing test fails dropped from to around 17.6%, and after one year of regular training, it dropped even further to 5%.
