Ransomware attacks decline amid crypto downturn
Axios: Some good news about ransomware attacks. As crypto markets are falling, so are ransomware attacks. Overall they’ve declined 23% from January to June, according to the 2022 SonicWall’s cyber threat report.Interesting to note that the number of organizations willing to pay a ransom are less than half in Q1 2022 compared to 85% in Q1 2019. But the bottom line is that ransomware attacks just this year already surpassed totals for 2017, 2018 and 2019.

T-Mobile Pitches $4-Per-Customer Settlement for Data Leak Impacting 80M People
Dark Reading: More than 80 million T-Mobile customers were affected by a cyberattack in summer 2021. Extremely sensitive information was stolen, including social security numbers and drivers license information. The company is going to pay $350 million but the compensation works out to only $4 per person.
